15th May 2016 - Northwood v Denham
Denham lost the toss against Northwood Town, who elected to field first. No wickets fell in the first 9 overs as Andrias and Stephen built a decent foundation. After Stephen was run out and Andrias retired, Sam Simpson and Will upped the scoring rate with a number of boundaries. A number of wickets fell in the last few overs, with Denham pushing for runs and finishing up with 73/4 off their 20 overs.
Northwood Town also began steadily, with the openers mixing cover drives and solid defence. With the rate building, NT tried to push on, resulting in Will, Jackson and Stephen all claiming wickets. Despite a number of boundaries from the middle order, NT finished short of the Denham total, on 54. A decent friendly to start the season, played in excellent spirit. Next match vs The Lee in the league.
Monday 23rd May v High Wycombe
The Under 12s lost by 60 runs to High Wycombe on Monday. Wycombe, fielding a strong batting side amassed a good total of 135/6 from their 20 overs. Five of the wickets taken by Denham were run outs, so there were some positives to take from the fielding performance. However, the bowling was below par with too many wides and loose deliveries. In reply, Denham batted well to get to 85 with Stephen Elmer top scoring with 19 not out. More work needs to be done on running between the wickets and calling in order to pick up more singles along the way.
