2008-9 Cricketers Darts League


May 2009 Summary: Not a great winter for Denham in Darts: second in the League with only the Fours title to take away. Bessborough thwarted Denham at every turn.

10th October Ickenham were duely despatched 10-5

2008 League Fixtures


6th-14th September The Ones' game was abandoned, while Wraysbury pipped Taplow to the league championship by one point. The Twos cracked up 261, courtesy of Ian Singh's great 116, in their drawn match against league champions Braywood. Meanwhile on the 14th, the Sunday XI had an exciting last ball victory over Chesham Bois.

23rd August The Ones had a spectacular victory over Holyport (particular thanks to Faisal Mahmood, 7/38). It was good enough for The Commentator to smoke one of his famous Panamas. 9th August Almost all League matches were abandoned, although leaders Taplow managed to get in an innings and hence gathered 12 points instead of the 5 virtually everyone else got. 2nd August Both League matches were drawn, with the Twos apparently having the more exciting day out (opposition finished 1 run short - can't wait for The Linesman's report) - but please read The Commentator's trenchant views on the Ones draw with Chalfont St Giles). 26th-27th July One up one down: the Twos were thrashed by Englefield Twos, but the Ones pulled off a fantastic last-over, one-wicket victory over Englefield Ones. 19th/20th July Marvellous bowling by Phil Ashworth sealed a great win for the Twos, but the Ones' batsmen let them down yet again and they were thrashed by Winchmore Hill. Stop Press The runless wonders revealed: Batting and Bowling averages of the Ones. Sunday side had to gives best to O'Hara Oils depite a marvellous century by Dave Maynard. 12th/13th July The Ones went down to league leaders Wraysbury, but the Twos held out for a draw against a resurgent Colehill Read Summary and The Linesman on the Twos

21st/22nd June Bad news from the League front: both sides trounced Read Summaries


14th/15th June Two up, one down: the Twos marched on thanks to Ambrose Treacy, but the fragile Ones batting colllpsed again. The Sunday side crafted out a fine win over tough competitors Wooodley. Read reports, with Alan Coulson on the Sunday side and NEW The Linesman for The Twos


7th/8th June Triple-great weekend for Denham, with both League sides recording outstanding victories, and the Sunday side roaring to a commanding win over Brondsbury Casuals. Read The Linesman's first report for the Twos and James Nicholas on the Sunday victory


31st/1st June The mixture as before (Ones thrashed, Twos draw), except that the Twos got the better end of their draw and the bulk of the points. The Ones batting just isn't firing at the moment.Read Summary


24th/25th Another week without a Denham win: the Ones were thrashed at Wraysbury, while the Twos held on for a draw against Coleshill Read Summary


17th/18th Not the best of weeks for Denham Ones, who hung on with their last pair to scrape the draw against Winchmore Hill, but the Twos achieved a very smart win against Hawkridge & Cholesbury Read Summary Next week: Ones at Wraysbury and Twos entertain Coleshill.

3rd/4th May The first week of the League season had few games played because of the weather. Both the 1sts and the 2nds had their games cancelled. Better luck this week (both teams against Braywood)
